The goal of this series is to honor the brave men and women who serve in our military keeping American safe and free. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children." This series of books is for children of all ages.

Although Sammie retired after 32 years of teaching, she hasn't slowed down. When she's not going on adventures or volunteering, she feeds the geese and wild turkeys near her home on the Nottley River, and has found a new passion in writing for children and teachers. Sammie and her husband Bill, a retired Navy SEAL, have a daughter, a son, three lively grandsons, a granddaughter and two granddogs. They live, work, and play in the small mountain town of Murphy, North Carolina and on the beach in Panama City, FL.
